Now that Payback is in the books, it’s time for some NXT Unstoppable predictions. I’m very excited for this show, especially with some of the rumors we’ve been hearing over the past few days.
Baron Corbin vs. Rhyno
It’s been pretty cool having Rhyno around in NXT, I must say. Normally we’re pretty hard on veterans when they come back but Rhyno’s been pretty good. He’s only really beaten jobbers to begin with so you can’t complain about him taking someone’s spot. Corbin hasn’t turned heel but he seemed pretty heelish in his last match on last week’s NXT, so I think Rhyno might be the face. Either way, I’m not expecting a long match out of this, and Corbin will win.
Prediction: Baron Corbin
Bayley and Charlotte vs. Emma and Dana Brooke
I was all excited at the prospect of a second women’s match on this card between Emma and Bayley but then they had to throw Dana Brooke in this too. That’s unfortunate. Emma and Bayley have actually had a feud going and Dana just happened to beat Bayley once and called out Charlotte who really has nothing to do with it. Dana’s really the first women’s wrestler put on this program that’s really no good. Alexa Bliss needs a little work but there’s talent there. Outside of being annoying as hell her in ring work and her mic work leaves a lot to be desired. You can use the excuse of “it’s developmental” but it’s a tv program on their network which a lot of people watch. Anyways, I was set for a Bayley win when it was one on one but not I’m thinking otherwise.
Prediction: Emma and Dana Brooke
NXT World Tag Team Championship
(c) Blake and Murphy (c) vs. Colin Cassidy and Enzo Amore
I’ve been looking forward to this one for a while. I mean, who hasn’t been waiting for SAWFT to win the tag titles? Well, we’re going to have to wait longer, I think. I’m not so sure the Carmella heel turn is going to happen like they’ve been kind of hinting towards, but I think there will be some shenanigans at least that costs SAWFT the match.
Prediction: Blake and Murphy
NXT Women’s Championship
Sasha Banks (c) vs. Becky Lynch
Let’s take a moment to appreciate the awesomeness that is Sasha Banks…..Ok. Anyways, women’s title matches on NXT are always awesome – the three things to look forward to most on an NXT special is the women’s title match, whatever Finn Balor is doing, and the NXT Title match, with the tag title match usually being good too and so on. But this is definitely going to be great – Sasha to win.
Prediction: Sasha Banks
NXT World Heavyweight Championship #1 Contender’s Triple Threat Match
Finn Balor vs. Tyler Breeze vs. Hideo Itami
This match will be amazing, no doubt about it. The real question is, is this the match we finally see the GTS? Itami did it at the live show before WM31 so there’s no reason not to do it anymore. The promos last week kind of indicated to me that Itami was going to win the match, although the rumor that he’s injured may change that. I don’t think Balor will win #1 Contendership at two live shows in a row. And Breeze vs. Owens would be interesting, but I don’t know if they will do that.
Prediction: Hideo Itami
NXT World Heavyweight Championship
Kevin Owens (c) vs. Sami Zayn
This feud has been great. My only hope for this match is that Zayn gets more offense in than their first one, and it’s not a slaughter like that one was. I don’t expect Zayn to regain the title – in fact I’m wondering if this is his last big match in NXT. Also if we get that debut we’ve been hearing about, it’s definitely going to be a face debut and him showing up to confront Zayn would be odd.
Prediction: Kevin Owens
I should be back with a review of it probably Thursday night.
